Hi folks,
I have four inherited IRAs in total.
Two are pre-Secure Act, with lifetime distributions.
Two are post-Secure Act, with ten year rule distributions. (One of these is an inherited inherited IRA.)
I inherited these IRAs in three different years.
Pralana 2023 only models one distribution period and one year of inheritance.
I'm looking for suggestions for how to best work in Pralana within this distribution period limitation.
Also, what impact does the Year of Inheritance entry have on the calculations?
Thanks!
Jim
I woke up in the middle of the night with an idea. 🙂
My wife has her own pre-Secure Act Inherited IRA, with lifetime distributions.
As a workaround, in Pralana I could:
- Add my two pre-Secure Act Inherited IRAs to hers, and enter the total as hers, selecting the lifetime distribution pulldown
- Enter my two post-Secure Act Inherited IRAs as mine, selecting a ten year distribution period
That seems like a viable approach.
Any flaws with that idea?
Thank you.
Jim
Your approach sounds like as good as you can do. I think you should put a request into the Wish List part of the forum, programming input flexibility will hopefully be easier in the web version.
