One of the most important Tax Planning knobs I have is to use QCDs to help balance my expected Taxes over time. As part of my custom model, I started using a Percentage of RMDs to quickly adjust their size so I could easily see the impact on AGI, Taxable Income, and Effective Marginal Rates.
It is a great labor saving approach to planning QCDs -- especially for this of us who are used to tithing a specific percentage of income.
Having to review and update each years QCDs is driving me crazy and it really affects my ability to quickly model out various approaches.

Neat idea. I too am planning on tithing with QCDs with a fixed $ amount; but I can see how a percentage would make even more sense.
