@nevinsalumni-duke-edu Bob, were you able to get Pralana Online to withdrawal QCDs from an inherited IRA? I currently have a scenario with a future inherited TIRA with a large enough balance to handle $20K QCDs for multiple years with all other TDIRAs have zero balances at the time I scheduled these QCDs; however, Pralana is not currently utilizing the Inherited TIRA for the QCD - saying that my QCD is excessive. If I tweak the scenario so that my Traditional TDIRA has a balance during this time frame, then the QCD is taken from that TDIRA. The current Charity Input page's "QCD Source" only allows for owner names to be selected and does not seem to allow me to specify a preference between a Traditional TDIRA and an Inherited TDIRA.
I'm somewhat new to Pralana, so perhaps I'm missing one last setting.
Thanks!
Mark
I just tried as well and you can only tell the program which person is making the gift, which could be OK since money is fungible, but it will not take the QCD from the inherited account, it limits the QCD to the balance in the traditional IRA. I suggest you make a bug report.
Thanks a lot to you both for the replies. @ricke I added a new topic in the "issues and potential errors" forum. Hopefully that's the correct home for the bug report.
All: Last night's Pralana Online release (2025/09/24) adds support for QCD's from inherited traditional IRAs which now appear in the QCD Source drop-down list, if you have defined inherited tIRA(s). I will update the user manual soon.
When applying the Federal QCD per-person limit, QCD's from your IRA are processed first, then QCD's from your inherited IRA. Once the limit is hit, remaining QCDs are reclassified as regular charitable contributions..
If you have questions about how this is implemented in your plan, please the Pralana Online Feedback link and specify which scenario is in question. Thanks!
One of the best features of Pralana is the way "no brainer" fixes happen so quickly! Thank you Charlie.
