New user here -

I'm trying to enter the health care expenses. Pralana is hiding scenarios 2 and 3. It seems to be treating my spouse and I as retiring and starting medicare the months that we turn 65 -- even through in the inputs, I have entered different retirement dates (including are a retirement date when my spouse turns 70. So, I want period 2 to show, where one is working, one retired, and neither is on Medicare. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? TIA

Hi and thank you for subscribing and for your question. "Pralana is hiding scenarios 2 and 3". Do you mean scenarios 2 and 3 or healthcare periods 2 and 3?

Currently, Pralana assumes that you will start Medicare at the start of the month you turn 65 (unless you were born on the 1st day of the month), regardless of your retirement date. Many people retire before 65 and obviously cannot start Medicare until they turn 65.

There is an open, high priority, feature request to allow users who are covered by employer health insurance after 65 to defer the start of Medicare until some future date. I will be working on implementing that feature in the next couple of weeks or so.

Does that address your question?

Charlie

Yes, I meant healthcare periods 2 and 3 (not scenarios).

That feature request is what I need -- because right now our results are being skewed as our Medicare costs are significantly higher than employer health care due to IRMA. Being able to adjust the health insurance after the first spouse retires is also important in my situation.

Thanks!
