Need to delete a child and a college expense entry but Pralana doesn't seem to let me.

The addition to the personal loan feature enabling me to be able to specify an amount of the principle that is taxed as LTCG is great. This should work wonderfully. Thank you. I now can get rid of the kludge that I used to get around that problem.

However, I can't seem to delete some of the entries used to create that kludge. I had done three things. 1) create a non-existent child, 2) created a college expense and higher-ed inflation delta that matched the taxable principle payments received on the loan, 3) created an income item that matched the taxable principle payments payable as LTCG.

I was able to delete #3 without a problem. However, I wasn't able to delete the phony child or the college expenses. Am I doing something wrong or is this an odd bug?

I tried editing my post, but wasn't able to do so. I found that hitting the Delete x next to the child and confirming the delete it locked up the screen. However, if I first cleared the name and birthday field, then hit the delete x, it worked. After the child was deleted, then the College expense entry also vaporized. So my issue is solved, but there still be an issue of being able to get rid of a college expense without getting rid of the kid.

@humsby

The problem with deleting a child is a bug. Bill Hines also reported it a couple days ago and I will have a fix in the next release.
In the meantime, you can set the child to not be a dependent and for college expenses, just enter a college start year but leave the cost at $0.

UPDATE: Glad you were able to delete the child. There will always be a row on the College expense page for each child even if they don't go to college. Perhaps I should make the college start year optional and not required.

@cstone Thanks Charlie.

I sure hope you are on the West coast. It is late to be replying to business posts, even if it is Pacific daylight savings time. 😉
