I understand the definitions associated with each of the fields , but am at a loss if I enter my actual data as it is now, or desired/target data?
My interpretation from the manual and the text above the columns is the overall allocation, 1st column on the left, reflects the current/actual overall portfolio allocation. However the title of the column says "overall targets" . The word "target" implies desired, not actual. Which is it?
I assume the remaining columns are my desired/target allocations for each account type, correct?
Thanks for any clarification you can provide....Mark.
Target = Desired. The manual does a pretty good job describing how it works, and how "account priority" feeds into it. It's a powerful feature imho since it helps evaluate things like Roth conversions on a fair playing field (i.e., allocation the same w/ conversions or without).
Thanks for your reply. Went back and read the manual again. I was not considering the multiple time periods correctly.
My 1st time period will reflect my actual allocations and locations. If these were where I wanted them to be, they are targets also. The program will use this along with account prioritization to keep my portfolio allocations and locations in line as it's inevitable that growth/losses will cause deviations over time.
In my case, a couple of the accounts do not currently have the allocations I want. Will use an additional time period to reflect these changes, new targets if you will. It's my expectation that this will model the rebalancing that I plan in the next few years.

The program rebalances to your target each year. The average for the year will drift from the target slightly due to different returns from different assets.
