Do scheduled withdrawals from a tax-deferred account count towards RMDs in the online version of Pralana? They don't seem to, based on some experimentation. Adding a large scheduled withdrawal during an RMD year seems to leave the RMD withdrawal listed for that year in the Cash Flow page unchanged.

Sorry if this topic has already been covered. A search of the forum only turned up discussions about the issue in the Excel version of Pralana.

Thanks.

@malik182 I am glad you asked!

Scheduled Withdrawals are 'supposed' to fulfill, partially or fully, the year's RMD. The Scheduled Withdrawal page (and probably the user manual) says:

  • Withdrawals from a tax-deferred account will count toward the year's RMD, if applicable.

But I just tested this as well and see it is not...both are taken.

RMDs are already reduced by the amount of any QCD and I just modified them to also deduct any scheduled withdrawals from the IRA in that year. This change will apply to both your own and inherited IRAs.

I still need to modify the Metric MRIs and do some more testing, but hope to get this change deployed in Sunday (1/11/26) night's release.
