What is the easiest way to create Roth Conversions for a fixed amount and a fixed numbers of years to pull from one spouse's Tax Deferred Retirement accounts. No matter what I try it does not seem to give me an even spread of confersions.
You select which account (selector on the left) and then set amounts either from your account, spouse's account or per your chosen priority. My guess is you have set the selector on the left to No Conversions, but that shuts conversions off for the year.
Note that this is not typically the best strategy, typically you are aiming at a breakpoint in the ordinary income tax rate, ACA premium credit breakpoint, LTCG taxation phase-in or IRMAA tier. The optimizer will search only the ordinary tax brackets, so it is possible for it to miss the perfect spots. I find the ability to enter specific amounts useful to investigate the smaller breakpoints that the other available selectors don't cover. Things like SS benefit taxation, NIIT, OBBBA deduction phase-outs.
