Fairly new but really liking the product and details. Two questions about the topic:
1. Optimize always asks how many years to convert. I say 4. I have 4 years before RMDs. It always ignores any number I enter. What am I missing?
2. The Optimizer minimizes conversions for 3 years, spikes once, then hits a steady state until we die. I assumed we'd be aggressive for 4 years. We have plenty of regular savings to pay the taxes. And this aggressive approach maximizes networth and gives us the insurance we seek against the tax time bomb and likely spikes in IRMAA and income tax. So I can't figure out what Pralana is thinking.
Help will be much appreciated.

@bkfort-fitestyahoo-com I just tested the PRC2025 Roth conversion again myself by telling the optimizer to do the optimization over just a four-year period and that is what it did indeed do. What PRC does is strive to maximize your final effective savings by finding the optimum marginal tax bracket for each year in the specified conversion period, with your selections of start year, IRMAA bracket, LTCG bracket and FPL multiple as givens.
I really can't say what's going on with your file sight unseen, but if you'd email me (mail@pralanaconsulting.com) an export file I'd be happy to investigate and let you know.
Thanks,
Stuart
Hi Stuart,
Thanks for explaining.
I sent the export file with password "pralana_roth". I am properly prompted for the password when Importing via pralana.
In the email I mention some other issues I am having. e.g. My Roth Conversion scenarios are not restored from import files. The results seem arbitrary.
