Hi, after upgrading from 2023 to Online, can the excel version still be utilized or is it killed in the transition?

@geiger966 PRC2023 (Excel) can still be used indefinitely. You can import its data into the Online tool at any point but the inverse is never true; you cannot ever import the data from the Online tool into the Excel tool.

It's a good idea to compare answers between Excel and Online at first to make sure that you understand any differences in results. They have automated and improved a number of calculations (some situations around Social Security benefits come to mind) that you may have previously been making manual adjustments to handle.

While the Excel file will continue to work, inflation happens and tax law changes often happen, those would only be adjusted for in any future version that Stuart & Charlie might issue. Also, as I understand the Excel program security, it is locked to the computer you are using, eventually your computer will wear out, so I can't see you using PRC2023 in 2033.
